CHENEGA INFINITY, LLC Company Job Title: Firefighter/Lieutenant - NASA Chenega Job Title: Firefighter Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Location: Titusville, FL Reports To: Battalion Chief FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time, Regular Prepared Date: 08-03-2016 Approved Date: 08-03-2016 Summary: The Firefighter/Lieutenant is primarily responsible to lead a crew consisting of a Firefighter/Driver and Firefighters for the purpose of protecting the lives and property of the government and the public. Physical fitness to perform these duties is essential and the Firefighter/Lieutenant must remain in full duty status at all times to perform these functions. The Firefighter/Lieutenant must be able to wear protective ensembles to include structural bunker gear, total encapsulating HazMat suits, self-contained breathing apparatus, class 3 harness and any other ensemble deemed required for the functions of their duty. The Firefighter/Lieutenant must also ensure his/her subordinates operate in a safe manner and wear all required protective gear commensurate with the operation at all times. The Firefighter/Lieutenant must demonstrate and maintain proficiency in supervision and leadership with all the fire department personnel at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position) * Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies, and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner. * Will arrive at work on time and be in proper uniform with issued equipment. Will be responsible for the cleanliness of uniform and equipment assigned. * Responsible for the direction and control of a fire crew in the performance of routine and emergency work assignments. * Responsible for the protection of life and property at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), and provides fire suppression, prevention and rescue services on a routine and emergency basis. * Assigns, directs and participates in work performed by the work force, as directed by management. * Attends training courses, reads and understands assigned material related to emergency medical care, firefighting and fire prevention. * Responds to fire alarms with a company, operates auxiliary equipment, deploys hose lines, operates nozzles, directs water streams, raises ladders, climbs ladders, uses fire extinguishers, bars, hooks, ropes and other equipment. * As the fire official at the scene of an emergency, rapidly assesses problems and hazards and directs/controls combat forces to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. * Conducts forcible entry, ventilates burning buildings by opening access points in roofs and floors using power equipment and hand tools, removes persons from danger, administers first aid to injured persons, performs salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, vacuuming and removing water, cleaning up and removing debris as well as all ARFF operations. * Possesses knowledge of size-up, rescue procedures and fire suppression techniques and their application in buildings, facilities, and aircraft related materials and systems. * Possesses knowledge of all fire apparatus, equipment, and their operation. * Responds to vehicle accidents scenes and performs extrication techniques using specialized heavy hydraulic equipment during emergency situations. * Ensures required checks of apparatus and equipment are completed each shift and ensures any mechanical or equipment issues are documented and reported immediately. * Ensures the Firefighter/Driver operates all fire apparatus and auxiliary vehicles and equipment safely under emergency and routine situations. * Ensures all personnel under his/her direction follow established safety regulations and use available safety devices. * Possesses extensive knowledge of streets, building addresses, suppression systems, fire alarm panel locations and hydrant locations. * Possesses extensive knowledge about motor vehicle laws and regulations of the State of Florida, regarding emergency vehicular responsibilities. * Demonstrates and maintains competence with fire pump operations, firefighting hydraulics, fire streams, relay operations, elevated streams, master streams, and fire ground operations. * Possesses extensive knowledge of proper operating procedures and safe operating limitations of Fire Services aerial equipment and ladders. * Provides proper water supply and fire streams during fire suppression activities. * Provides standby support for aircraft arrivals/departures and related activities as required. * Ensures the apparatus at the emergency scene are strategically positioned to protect the lives of public and fire department personnel. * Deploys light towers, positions the aerial ladder, and operates generators and power units. * Will communicate via radio, telephone and orally according to orders. * Responds to vehicle accident scenes and performs extrication techniques using specialized heavy hydraulic equipment during emergency situations when not required to man the firefighting apparatus pump. * Possesses knowledge of size-up, rescue procedures and fire suppression techniques and their application in buildings, facilities, and aircraft related materials and systems. * Performs rescue of incapacitated personnel as required. * Complies with department policies, rules and regulations. * Provides hazardous operational standbys as required. * Maintains fire station, fire apparatus, tools and appliances in a constant state of readiness. * Performs general up-keep of fire department property; prepares and submits reports and forms regarding supplies, equipment and other matters pertaining to his/her unit. * Washes hoses; washes, cleans and disinfects equipment, apparatus, and facility. * Inspects PPE daily to ensure its serviceability. * Participates in training exercises/scenarios and reviews and complies with Standard Operating Procedures. * Relays orders, instructions and information accurately. * Directs fire hydrant flow tests and records information for department use. * Assures vehicles and equipment are clean and serviceable. * Assures that all appropriate vehicles, radios and equipment are inventoried and remain in an operational status on a daily basis. * Performs basic fire prevention duties as required. * Personnel assigned to this classification are subject to perform at the Technical Rescue and HazMat operational level and may be required to obtain technician level certification in these areas if required to support a specialty function. * Receive and complete training for the Astronaut Rescue function if implemented during the contract period. * Participate in certification training classes when offered and pass such classes per the certification criteria. * Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Must possess a high school diploma or GED. * Must be at least 21 years of age. * Must meet all standards as required by Statement of Work. * Honorably discharged from the Armed Services (If Applicable) * Successfully completed all training and have obtained all required licenses, certifications and security/medical clearances for the site. Computer Skills: * Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment. * Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance: * Must possess a DOD or Florida State or Pro Board Firefighter II certification. * Must possess DOD or Florida State or Pro Board Driver Operator Pumper/Operator Aerial and DOD or Pro Board Driver Operator ARFF certifications. * Must possess DOD, Florida State or Pro Board Fire Officer I certification. * Must possess an Emergency Vehicle Operator's Certificate. * Must have completed NIMS courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800. * Must possess and maintain a valid Class E Florida state driver's license. * Must speak, read, write, and understand the English language, apply written rules, detailed orders, instructions and training material. * Have no record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture. * Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual's reliability. * Must be able to meet and maintain NASA Physical Certifications. * Must be able to successfully pass all required Psychological examinations. * Must be able to meet drug testing and alcohol ? free workforce requirements to include random drug and/or alcohol testing. * Must possess technical rescue certification to the awareness level and hazardous materials certification to the operations level within one year of hire date. Must possess one of the following certifications - DOD ARFF Firefighter, or Pro Board ARFF Firefighter within one year of hire date. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 170 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. * Must successfully complete a pre-employment Combat Task Test (CTT) and biannually thereafter as prescribed by the government. * Ascend and descend 75 feet of stairway while carrying a 14 pound simulated high rise pack. * Hoist a 50' roll of 1-3/4" hose with nozzle, using a 1/2" to 5/8" rope, to a height of 50 feet. * Simulate forcible entry by hitting 150 lb. beam with 9 lb. sledgehammer to move the beam a distance of 5 ft. (Keiser Force Machine). Firefighters must keep both hands below a tape-marked line on the sledgehammer which is 1 foot down from the head of the sledgehammer, and only contact the beam with the head of the sledgehammer. * Lift, drag or carry a 170 lb. mannequin a distance of 85 ft. The CTT must be completed wearing full NFPA approved protective clothing to include full structural firefighting bunker gear (coat, pants, boots, gloves, hood and helmet.) A KSC supplied self-contained breathing apparatus with a composite bottle shall be worn and personnel shall wear the face mask, maintain adequate respiratory seal and breathe bottled air while performing all elements of the test. The CTT must be completed within 7 minutes. If assigned to the Astronaut Rescue function the CTT must be completed within 4 minutes. Work Environment: * The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. * The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. * The employee will be required to adjust to a controlled environment during normal daily activities to the extremely hot and possibly cold environments associated with firefighting duties at a moment's notice. * During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Chenega Corporation and family of companies is an EOE.
