Job Description:
Position Summary The Systems Engineering Lead works as part of a
cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team. The position has
responsibilities in all phases of the system life cycle including
requirements development and analysis, software and hardware system
design, risk management, integration, test, verification,
licensing, and operation.Core Accountabilities and Essential
Functions --- Maintain the concept of operations through vehicle
development cycles. --- Oversee ongoing implementation by the
product team leads of our integrated physics-based systems
engineering design and development data system. A form of MBSE, the
system tracks growth allowances, margins, and reserves (power,
mass, lift, etc.) along with requirements flow, traceability and
change management. --- Manage interface control documents (ICDs)
between product teams. --- Coordinate constraints and conflicting
requirements across multiple disciplines. --- Ensure coordination
of design changes and associated impacts across subsystems. ---
Identify program risks and associated mitigations. --- Guide the
Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis at the subsystem
level and maintain it at the system level and promulgate derived
requirements changes as needed. --- Monitor integrated product
teams requirements, test, and verification process. --- Support a
learning through experience test program rather than attempting to
anticipate all system interactions. --- Anticipate integration
problems ahead of the issue getting on the critical path. ---
Create a systems-oriented culture whose goal is the engineering and
integration of reliable and safe systems in a culture of
responsibility. No engineering process can replace this for getting
things done right and efficiently. --- Ensure that we test
rigorously and at multiple levels of integration-including right
before service. --- Lead your systems engineering reviews. ---
Participate in subsystem reviews.Required Education and Experience
--- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in a
manufacturing or engineering discipline (master's preferred) or
equivalent. --- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems
Engineering and/or requirements management process. --- Valispace
experience highly desired.Required Qualifications: --- Ability to
work well in an integrated, fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team
environment and a willingness to work long hours and weekends as
needed. --- Strong background in blank-page design, systems
engineering, integration, and test. --- Passion for hands-on work
including manufacturing, flight control, vehicle, flight, and
recovery operations. --- Must have practical experience in a
complex operational environment. --- Extraordinary organizational
skills with the ability to prioritize and follow through on all
work. --- Proven ability to lead in the management of multiple
projects while contributing to others. --- Exceptional written and
verbal communication with an emphasis on interpersonal and
organizational skills. --- Flexibility and accessibility are
necessary. --- Ability and willingness to travel as
needed.Preferred Qualifications: --- Design or operation of
stratospheric balloon flight systems --- Familiarity with
performing work in an Agile environment --- More than 8 years of
experience in Systems Engineering and/or requirements management
