Mechanical Engineer IV- Purge Unit & Environment Control Systems

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer IV - Purge Unit
and Environment Control Systems to join their team. This person
will be leading the design of a portable, high capacity, ground air
conditioning unit for critical spacecraft and launch vehicle
purges. This person will be delivering clean sheet design that must
meet stringent performance and government design standards with 10
month period of performance.
Thermal and flow analysis for overall system layout and component
Specification development and/or selection of blower, refrigeration
package, heat transfer coils, heaters, fans, pre-filters,
instrumentation, and controls architecture to meet flow, pressure,
temperature, cleanliness, humidity, and power requirements.
Work with existing team members; engineers and designers to develop
Work with other discipline leads and engineers to develop
structural, controls, and electrical and power products.
Manage overall space, weight, and power requirements.
Writing reports, specifications, overseeing model/analysis/drawing
Frequent interface with multiple customers to provide project
technical details and status.
Lead and/or support government attended design and project
Strong knowledge in KSC/NASA design engineering processes,
standards, and specifications
10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer designing
aerospace Ground Support Equipment (GSE), specifically commercial
Air Conditioning Units (ACU)
BS engineering or relevant technical degree
Working knowledge of Pro-E and/or Creo modeling and KDDMS (Kennedy
Design and Data Management System)
Ability to lead and mentor team members through design efforts
