Part Time: OPS Health Support Technician Duties & Responsibilities

29 hours per week while school is in session with no benefits package

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Emergency Duty
  • Experience working in a medical setting
  • Valid First Aid Certification
  • Willing to work 29 hours per week only
  • Willing to work with no health benefits provided
  • Access to personal transportation
  • Valid Driver's License, if out of state, Florida License is required within 30 days of hire
  • Experience with computer applications i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Valid CPR Certification

This advertisement may serve multiple positions in multiple locations in Brevard County

This position may require travel to various locations in Brevard County throughout the day.

Medical support and or working with children preferred

  • Provide basic health services as per School Health Guidelines to students under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor.
  • Administers first aid, daily medications, and emergency medications to students and/or staff as requested and ordered by a physician.
  • Provides needed health care procedures to students as trained for by the Community Health Nursing Supervisor. These include but are not limited to intermittent clean catheterization, gastrostomy tube feeding, and monitoring blood glucose.
  • Organize and assist with state mandated health screenings such as hearing/vision, scoliosis, and body mass index.
  • Maintains clean health unit/work area and does periodic inventory of medical supplies needed.
  • Maintains accurate records/documentation of all work performed.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with all staff members.
  • Attend School Health in-services as scheduled.
  • Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
