Job Title Patient Access Trainer Job Description General Description Under the direction of the Director of Patient Access the Patient Access Trainer, oversees the education process via classroom and one-on-one training and retraining for all employees needing front-end revenue cycle access. Ensures training records are maintained. Conducts random audits. Develops and maintains training handouts and related materials. Functions as the subject matter expert for all Patient Access (PA) functions within Employer's systems. Collaborates with Information Systems (IS) and vendors to assure issues are addressed and systems are appropriately tested and maintained. Key Responsibilities Responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare's Culture of Choice--. Ensures goals and objectives are met or exceeded by providing effective Patient Access Training. TrainingEnsure adequate training and retraining for all staff requiring access to hospital systems to perform any scheduling, authorization, pre-registration, registration and/or point-of-service collection functions.Coach staff on independent problem-solving and sound revenue cycle practices.Collaborate with PA leaders to develop, assemble and disseminate training handouts and related material, reviewing annually to ensure material remains current.Create and maintain a Net Learning module to ensure staff stays current on access issues.Define and develop new training programs for any new systems or upgrades that impact the scheduling, registration and/or authorization process.Educate others on correct access procedures, emphasizing the importance of highly accurate data entry and how erroneous information negatively impacts the entire revenue cycle.Understand all payers and the various requirements for each regarding the scheduling, registration, authorization and point-of service collections processes and train staff accordingly.Schedule training and maintain accurate records of participation.Process ImprovementPossess a full understanding of the revenue cycle and develop methods to improve current access processes.Actively participate in systems reviews and optimizations.Assist PA leaders with review of new revenue cycle solutions that have the potential to enhance processes, improve patient identification, streamline workflows and/or augment collections.As new solutions are implemented, investigate the impact on the access functions, anticipating and developing methods for managing ensuing issues.Ensure access systems are functioning appropriately, and report any discrepancies to the vendor and IS.CollaborationPerform systems tests for upgrades on any systems impacting access functions as needed, providing timely feedback to IS.Collaborate with the Business Office teams to learn and understand the impact of access functions on back-end revenue cycle processes to help improve current PA operations.Involve appropriate stakeholders when issues are identified and need to be addressed.Collaborate with PA leaders to enhance referral process and its impact on access.Registration Audit SystemManage the registration audit function, ensuring that rules are written and updated appropriately based on payer changes, systems updates or any other changes that might impact registration audit rules.Monitor and respond to care partners' error corrections and disputes.Scheduling, Authorization, Pre-registration and RegistrationFunction as a float person for scheduling, authorization, pre-registration and registration as needed.Perform accurate data entry while completing scheduling, pre-registration and registration processes. ?
