Find your future with us. Boeing, Space and Launch System Engineering seeking an Experienced Stress Analysis Engineer (Level 3) to provide support at the Kennedy Space Center. The Experienced Stress Analysis Engineer will utilize past analysis and floor experience to support spaceoperations. This position will perform basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools (NASTRAN, PATRAN, CREO-Simulate, Common Structures Workstation and home-grown tools) to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Primary Responsibilities: Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design. Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment. Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements. Creates strength check notes to document analysis. Provides inputs to formal documentation, to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements. Develops and supports in-house software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks. Assists in the research and preparation of data, to support definition of structural design requirements. Researches new technology applications, new product designs and structural life enhancement concepts, to support product improvement. Performs basic pre-test analysis, monitors tests, analyzes and correlates test data, and documents results, to develop and certify structural concepts, investigates failures and develops material allowables. Makes customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions Discovers new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking. Tries different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities. Familiar of risk management principles and tools (e.g., frequency and effect matrix) and applies them in various situations to determine necessary and cost effective mitigation Ability to evaluate complex vehicles and systems from a multitude of perspectives. Includes the ability to apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools. Ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate configuration alternatives for functional and spatial integration. Ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources. Knowledgeable of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files). Ability to design, produce, and build processes (e.g., maintenance access solid, dependability cost model, produceability tradeoffs) to effectively influence product design. Knowledgeable of appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification (e.g., Part 25, MILSPEC). Familiar of engineering analysis (e.g. mechanical, electrical, avionics, design, circuit, systems, stress, structural, durability). Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering technical information (e.g., drawings, handbooks, industry standards and specifications). Performs engineering tests techniques, including handling qualities, performance, systems testing, structural loads, weapons separation, propulsion, etc. Performs arithmetic operations in order to solve complex math problems. This includes the ability to extract relevant information from tables, charts, graphs, text, spot relevant trends in data, and create and document models that can be used by others. Familiar of structural repair principles (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques). Knowledgeable of structural repair, overhaul, nondestructive inspection, corrosion control, and composites. Works under general direction. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. ? 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. This is a sensitive/safety-sensitive position and is subject to NASA. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience): Knowledge of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools such as Finite Element Model Analysis Program (NASTRAN), Abacus, and NASGRO to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance of the product. 3 years or more experience in structural stress analysis. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience): Experience working with aerospace products. Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
